1O for a shout of sacred joy,
To God, the sovereign King:
Let every land their tongues employ,
And hymns of triumph sing.
2Jesus our God ascends on high,
His heavenly guards around
Attend Him rising through the sky,
With trumpets’ joyful sound.
3While angels shout and praise their King,
Let mortals learn their strains;
Let all the earth His honors sing;
O’er all the earth He reigns.
4Rehearse His praise with awe profound,
Let knowledge lead the song;
Nor mock Him with a solemn sound
Upon a thoughtless tongue.
5In Israel stood His ancient throne;
He loved that chosen race;
But now He calls the world His own,
And heathens taste His grace.
Psalm24:7Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
Psalm27:6And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.
Psalm68:18Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.
Luke24:51And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
