1O Word of God Incarnate,
O Wisdom from on high,
O Truth, unchanged, unchanging,
O Light of our dark sky!
We praise Thee for the radiance
That from the hallowed page,
A lantern to our footsteps,
Shines on from age to age.
2The Church from her dear Master
Received the gift divine,
And still that light she lifteth
O’er all the earth to shine.
It is the golden casket
Where gems of truth are stored;
It is the heaven-drawn picture
Of Christ the living Word.
3It floateth like a banner
Before God’s host unfurled;
It shineth like a beacon
Above the darkling world.
It is the chart and compass
That o’er life’s surging sea,
’Mid mists and rocks and quicksands,
Still guides, O Christ, to Thee.
4Oh! Make Thy Church, dear Savior,
A lamp of purest gold,
To bear before the nations
Thy true light, as of old.
Oh! Teach Thy wandering pilgrims
By this their path to trace,
Till, clouds and darkness ended,
They see Thee face to face. Amen.
2 Samuel22:31As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.
Psalm119:9,130,105,104,113,1429 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. 130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. 104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. 113 I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love. 142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
Psalm119:105Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm119:130The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
Proverbs6:23For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
Isaiah33:17Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.
Matthew5:14-1614 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew5:16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
John1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John1:9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
John1:14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John5:39Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
John12:35-4635 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. 36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. 37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: 38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? 39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, 40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. 41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him. 42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: 43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. 44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. 45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. 46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
Ephesians6:17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Philippians2:15That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Philippians2:15,1615 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

1 Peter1:23-2523 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
2 Peter1:21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
