|1||Spirit of God, That moved of old
Upon the waters’ darkened face,
Come, when our faithless hearts are cold,
And stir them with Thine inward Grace.
|2||Thou That art Power and Peace combined,
All highest Strength, all purest Love,
The Rushing of the mighty Wind,
The Brooding of the gentle Dove;
|3||Come, give us still Thy powerful Aid,
And urge us on, and keep us Thine;
Nor leave the hearts, that once were made
Fit temples for Thy Grace Divine:
|4||Nor let us quench Thy Sevenfold Light:
But still with softest Breathings stir
Our wayward souls– and lead us right,
O, Holy Ghost the Comforter! Amen.
|Genesis||1:2||And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
|1 Corinthians||3:16||Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
|2 Timothy||1:7||For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
