1Spirit of God, That moved of old
Upon the waters’ darkened face,
Come, when our faithless hearts are cold,
And stir them with Thine inward Grace.
2Thou That art Power and Peace combined,
All highest Strength, all purest Love,
The Rushing of the mighty Wind,
The Brooding of the gentle Dove;
3Come, give us still Thy powerful Aid,
And urge us on, and keep us Thine;
Nor leave the hearts, that once were made
Fit temples for Thy Grace Divine:
4Nor let us quench Thy Sevenfold Light:
But still with softest Breathings stir
Our wayward souls– and lead us right,
O, Holy Ghost the Comforter! Amen.
Genesis1:2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
1 Corinthians3:16Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
2 Timothy1:7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
