1Weeping, as they go their way
Their dear Lord in earth to lay,
Late at even,– Who are they?
2These are they who watched to see
Where He hung in agony,
Dying on the accursèd Tree.
3All is over,– in the tomb
Sleeps He, as in death’s dark womb,
Till the dawn of Easter come.
4All is over,– fought the fight;
Heaviness is for the night,
Joy comes with the morning light.
5Leave we in the grave with Him
Sins that shame and doubts that dim,
If our souls would rise with Him.
6Glory to the Lord, Who gave
His pure Body to the grave,
Us from sin and death to save. Amen.
Psalm30:5For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
John19:42There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
