1Jesus, and shall it ever be,
A mortal man ashamed of Thee!
Ashamed of Thee, Whom angels praise,
Whose glories shine through endless days!
2Ashamed of Jesus! Sooner far
Let evening blush to own a star.
He sheds the beams of light divine
O’er this benighted soul of mine.
3Ashamed of Jesus! Just as soon
Let midnight be ashamed of noon.
’Tis midnight with my soul till He,
Bright Morning Star, bid darkness flee.
4Ashamed of Jesus! That dear Friend
On Whom my hopes of heaven depend!
No; when I blush, be this my shame,
That I no more revere His name.
5Ashamed of Jesus! Yes, I may,
When I’ve no guilt to wash away;
No tear to wipe, no good to crave,
No fears to quell, no soul to save.
6Till then– nor is my boasting vain–
Till then, I boast a Savior slain;
And oh! May this my glory be,
That Christ is not ashamed of me! Amen.

1 Timothy6:11-1411 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Timothy1:8Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
