1O God, by Whom the seed is given,
By Whom the harvest blest,
Thy word, like manna showered from heaven,
Implant within our breast.
2Preserve it from the passing feet,
And plunderers of the air,
The sultry sun’s intenser heat,
And thorns of worldly care.
3Thou buried deep, or thinly sown,
Do Thou Thy grace supply;
The hope in earthly furrows strown,
Shall ripen in the sky. Amen.
Matthew13:3And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
Matthew13:19When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
Mark4:3Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:
Luke8:5A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
